Group Prenatal Facilitator (Antelope Valley)
The Black Maternal Health Center of Excellence is partnering with Kaiser Permanente Women's Health to implement a group prenatal program for Black birthing families in the Antelope Valley. We are seeking two facilitators to support group discussion during the group prenatal sessions using the CenteringPregnancy Model. CenteringPregnancy consists of 10 sessions that include prenatal check-ups, weight and blood pressure monitoring, and facilitation of patient-led health education related to pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting. Additionally, this position will assist with tracking and reporting data and collaborating with providers to connect patients with wraparound services and supports. This is a part-time, contractor position.
Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities:
· Co-facilitates with providers multiple prenatal groups on a weekly basis using the CenteringPregnancy model which incorporates three major components: health assessment, education, and support;
· Facilitates group prenatal/childbirth education for patients participating in group prenatal healthcare;
· Prepares games, activities, crafts, and discussions focused on pregnancy, birth, and parenting;
· Plans upcoming prenatal group sessions with providers;
· Works closely with the BMHCE program staff to connect group prenatal patients with wraparound services and supports;
· Administers surveys to prenatal groups in an effort to improve the quality of groups;
· Evaluates outcomes from surveys collected from prenatal groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High School Diploma/GED required, Bachelor’s degree in human services, public/community health, health education or social work, preferred;
· Experience providing health education in a group or individual setting;
· At least 2 years of experience in the health related field;
· Experience coordinating programs or initiatives and/or facilitating groups;
· Ability to express enthusiasm about breastfeeding and a desire to help parents enjoy a positive experience;
· Knowledge of the CenteringPregnancy model (preferred) or experience working with birthing families;
· Reliable transportation;
· Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed;
· Commitment and ability to provide Black birthing families with an affirming experience.
